Privacy Policy

Duskline does not have accounts, does not ask you for personal information, and sets no cookies of its own. This page explains the few places where data does leave your browser, in plain language.

Who runs this site

Duskline is an independent, unofficial fan site operated from Sweden. Because it is operated from the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to it.

No accounts, no sign-ups, no personal data

There is nothing to log into. Duskline has no user accounts, no profiles, no comments and no newsletter. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail, and there is no form anywhere on the site that collects one.

Cookies

Duskline sets no cookies. It also stores nothing in your browser's local storage or session storage. You can confirm this yourself in your browser's developer tools.

Embedded YouTube videos are the exception, and are covered separately below, because those are controlled by Google rather than by us.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. It is a deliberately privacy-preserving choice:

• It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
• It does not follow you across other websites, and Cloudflare states that it does not identify visitors by IP address, browser fingerprint or any other persistent attribute.
• It records page-level information such as the page you viewed, the site you arrived from, your approximate country, and general browser and device type. It does not build a profile of you.

Loading it means your browser makes a request to Cloudflare, which necessarily involves your IP address in the same way as loading any web page. Because it stores nothing on your device and does not track you, it does not require a consent banner.

Embedded YouTube videos

Duskline does not host video. Every video is embedded from its original creator using YouTube's official player, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. We deliberately load that player only when you ask for it, and here is exactly what that means:

• The video player does not load until you click it. We show a still thumbnail with a play button instead of loading the player straight away. Until you press play, your browser makes no contact with YouTube's video servers at all — so Google is not told which pages you read or what you scrolled past.
• Thumbnails are the one exception. Those still images are served from Google's image servers, so loading one means Google receives your IP address and browser details. They load only as you scroll them into view, so viewing a page requests only the handful of thumbnails you actually see, not every video on it.
• When you press play, the full YouTube player loads. At that point your browser contacts several Google services, and Google may set cookies and store data in your browser through the player. Privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) limits this compared with a standard embed, but it does not eliminate it. What Google stores then is controlled by Google and is not visible to us.

In short: reading Duskline reveals very little to Google, and playing a video is a deliberate choice that hands you over to YouTube in the normal way. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own policy, which we recommend reading: Google Privacy Policy. If you would rather not contact Google at all, blocking third-party content for this site in your browser will prevent the thumbnails and players from loading.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address in order to deliver pages to you and to protect the site from attacks and abuse. Your browser may also report failed network requests to Cloudflare as part of its standard error reporting.

Fonts and other files

Fonts, stylesheets, images and scripts are served from duskline.gg itself. We do not use Google Fonts or any other external font or script service, so loading a page does not reach out to those third parties.

Advertising

Local storage

Duskline itself stores nothing in your browser. The only browser storage that may appear is set by YouTube's player if you choose to play a video, as described above.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access the personal data an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict how it is processed, and to receive a copy of it. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

In practice, because Duskline has no accounts and stores no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to hand over or delete. If you believe otherwise, or you want to exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@duskline.gg and we will respond. Data held by Google in connection with YouTube playback, or by Cloudflare as our host, is controlled by those companies, and requests about it should be directed to them.

Children

Duskline is a general-audience site about a video game and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

This page describes what the site actually does, so it is updated whenever the site's behaviour changes — in particular before advertising is switched on. The date at the top reflects the most recent change.
